Govts Digitalization Agenda To Train 10000 Workers In Cybersecurity VirtualInforsec Africa

The Second Cybersecurity Training Center in Ghana has been unveiled at the Presbyterian University, Ghana, Abetifi Campus, in the Eastern Region.
This development raises the number of such centers from one to two, making it the second Cybersecurity Training Center located on a university campus in Ghana in addition to the existing one at KNUST in Kumasi.
Both Cybersecurity Training Centers were established and funded by Virtual Inforsec Africa Limited, a wholly Ghanaian-owned organization certified by the Ghana Cyber Security Authority as a Tier 1 Cybersecurity Services Provider.
At a brief ceremony to officially unveil and hand over the Cybersecurity Training Lab to Presbyterian University, Ghana, the Executive Director of Virtual Inforsec Africa, Emmanuel Asiedu Sekyere, revealed that through the government's digitalization agenda, the organization aims to build a skilled workforce in cybersecurity with a target of training between 1000 and 10000 professionals capable of competing in the global job market.According to him, digitalization can create millions of jobs and eliminate significant inefficiencies in the system, underscoring the importance of support from companies, institutions and individuals for the government’s digital initiative.
The Vice Chancellor of Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG), Prof. John Ofosu-Anim, encouraged parents and guardians to consider Presbyterian University as a prime choice for enrolling their children.
He highlighted that the organization has committed a $150,000 sponsorship package for the first 100 students enrolling in cybersecurity courses at the university.
Prof. John Ofosu-Anim also stressed the urgency for the government to prioritize investments in the country's cybersecurity infrastructure to ensure a safer, digitally advanced future for Ghana.Michael Akrofi/Peace FM Correspondent
