Let Nobody Mislead Misinform or Disinform You Speaker Tells Ghanaians

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has urged Ghanaians not to allow themselves to be deceived into the notion that there is a constitutional crisis following the impasse of who occupies the majority and minority side of Parliament.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, 6th November, 2024, the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Alban Sumana Bagbin stated that the assertion that there is a constitutional crisis is unfounded, hence, the narrative should be discarded and discouraged. 

"Ladies and gentlemen, I want to start this presser by disabusing and setting the minds of Ghanaians at ease. There is no constitutional crisis in this country. I repeat, there is no constitutional crisis. The Parliament of Ghana is alive and working. Let nobody mislead, misinform, or disinform you and the country," the Speaker said. 

According to him, the democratic system as captured in the 1992 Constitution was adopted, hence, the need to allow the constitution to work. 

Speaker Alban Bagbin maintained that Democracy is about the rule of law. 

"The democratic system we adopted and enacted recognises, in the course of operationalising the system, disagreements will occur, and obstacles and problems will arise. The system has put in place mechanisms, structures, and institutions, processes, procedures and rules to follow and apply to resolve the disagreement, convert the obstacles into opportunities and provide solutions to the problems."
