AFCON Qualifiers Otto Addo Defends Black Stars Forwards After Goalless Draw Against Sudan

Head coach of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, Otto Addo, has defended his forwards following the Black Stars’ goalless draw against Sudan in a 2025 AFCON qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Addo’s defence comes in response to criticism after Ghana squandered several clear chances, missing the chance to secure their first win in three matches during the ongoing AFCON qualifiers.

Despite the disappointing result, Addo remains confident in his team’s offensive capabilities.

Black Stars forwards Inaki Williams and Antoine Semenyo, along with creative midfielder Mohammed Kudus, were notably wasteful in front of goal, failing to convert key opportunities during the match.

Looking ahead, Ghana will face Sudan again on Monday, October 14, at 13:00 GMT in Libya, a neutral venue chosen due to security concerns in Sudan.

Despite the struggles in front of goal, Otto Addo expressed his belief that his attackers will perform better in the next fixture, backing them to bounce back.

“I think they’ve shown on every level they can score all of them and I believe in them; they will score in the next game.”

Ghana ranks third in Group F with two points from three games while Sudan ranks second with four points.
