KAIPTC Calls for Accurate Media Reporting Ahead of Elections

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), in partnership with Kingdom Concept Consult (KCC), recently held a dialogue with media representatives and security personnel to clarify their roles ahead of the upcoming elections.
In an interview with Peace FM News, KAIPTC Commandant, Major General Richard Addo Gyane, urged the media to harness their influence responsibly during and after the election period. He emphasized the importance of balanced reporting and encouraged security agencies to sustain impartiality to ensure a peaceful election environment.
Major General Gyane also called for strong collaboration between the media and security agencies, stressing that understanding and cooperation between the two would support the Electoral Commission in delivering a credible election.
The event was held under the theme: "Safeguarding the Peace Before, During, and After the 2024 Elections: The Role of the Media and Security Actors."
Princess Sekyere Bih, Director of Kingdom Concepts Consult (KCC), also urged the media to champion peace throughout the election period.
Dr. Johnathan Sandy, Head of the AU ECOSOCC Peace and Security Cluster, further emphasized the importance of trust and confidence between voters, the media, security agencies, and electoral management bodies.
