Deputy Lands Minister Pays Familiarization Visit ToEastern Regional Forestry Service

Hon. Akwasi Konadu, Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources responsible for Lands and Forestry, paid a working visit to the Eastern Regional Forest Service and Wildlife Division (FSD) of the Forestry Commission on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
The visit was aimed to strengthen ties between the Ministry and its agencies and inform decision-making to benefit all stakeholders.
"I am here to familiarize myself with the operations of the Division and strengthen the bond between the Ministry and its Agencies", Hon. Konadu stated.
During the visit, the Regional Manager of FSD, Mr. Noble Eshun presented the division's operational activities, achievements and areas that need further te exceeding targets last year, there remains some obstacles which he highlighted as inadequate staffing, inadequate office logistics and forest reserve encroachment by farmers.
Mr. Moses Anongura, Regional Manager of the Wildlife division, also raised concerns over some worrying activities in areas such as supervision and surveillance of the zoos, wildlife management and securing a land for a zoo in New Juaben North district.
Hon. Konadu assured the staff that his Ministry will aid the Commission to provide logistics and resources to motivate them.
"We will ensure that logistics are provided to motivate staff both on the field and in the office."
The Deputy Minister also visited the Ministry of Roads and Highway Training Centre to inspect trees planted during the Green Ghana Day exercise.
Principal of the Centre, Mr. Daniel Kojo Asare, promised to nurture the trees to maturity.
The Deputy Minister's visit demonstrates the government's commitment to supporting forestry operations and addressing obstacles in the sector.
