Effutu NDCs Candidate and Thugs Destroy NPPs Billboards

The parliamentary candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress, James Kofi Annan, has led thugs in his party to destroy billboards of Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The destructions were undertaken at Sankor Junction, Traffic light and Winneba Junction. All the billboards of the Effutu MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markin and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, have either suffered total destruction or partial one.

According to those familiar with the story, the opposition candidate’s billboards placed in the various locations within the municipality had their permits expired in 2021.

He was impressed upon, on several occasions, by the Assembly to come for a renewal of the permit, but he failed to comply with the directive.

The Municipal Assembly served notice to Effutu NDC executives weeks ago of its intention to pull the billboards down since the permit had not been renewed three years after expiration.

This never moved the NDC as they ignored the directives once again. A few days ago, the Municipal Assembly, had the billboards pulled down as a result of the failure of the NDC’s candidate to renew the permit.

On Sunday, September 15, 2024, the NDC, led by their candidate, went round to destroy billboards of Honourable Alexander Afenyo-Markin, in retaliation to his billboards being pulled down by the Assembly.

“I don’t understand this. If you have failed to renew your permit three years after it expired and the Assembly has consequently pulled them down, why should you destroy Alex’s billboards? Did Alex ask you not to go and renew your permit?” an eyewitness at Sankor asked.
