The Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has made a personal donation of $10,000 to Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies to boost their morale ahead of the 2024 CAF Women's Champions League in Ivory Coast this week.
Hasaacas Ladies qualified to represent Ghana in the competition after winning the 2023-2024 Ghana Women's Premier League.
An aide to Dr. Bawumia, Tamimu Issah presented the money to the management of Hasaacas in Accra on Tuesdayand conveyed the Vice President's best wishes to Hasaacas Ladies who leave the country on Thursday for the tournament.
Dr. Bawumia's support comes as a timely boost and a major cushion to Hasaacas Ladies and the management of the team due to the huge financial requirements for the tournament.
This is not the first time Dr. Bawumia has supported Hasaacas Ladies or women's football in the country.
When Hasaacas Ladies qualified for its maiden CAF Women's Champions League four years ago, Dr. Bawumia responded to their public appeal for help by financially supporting them for both the competition in Ivory Coast and the final tournament in Egypt.Following the gesture, Dr. Bawumia has since been a major support system for every Ghanaian Women's Premier League champion representing Ghana at the CAF Women's Champions League every year.
Last year, he supported Ampem Darkoa Ladies who were crowned champions in the league.
Dr. Bawumia has also, for the past three years, adopted the SWAG Female Footballer of the Year by giving winners of the award a cash prize..
Hasaacas Ladies will face Edo Queens, Burkina Faso's Omnisports Etincelle, and Niger's AS Garde National in their group.Ameyaw Adu Gyamfi/
