EOCO Calls On Owners To Claim Seized Vehicles

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in Ghana has issued a public notice regarding a number of vehicles currently in their custody. 

The vehicles were seized during various operations conducted over the past decade. 

EOCO is urging rightful owners to come forward and claim their property within a designated timeframe.

According to the notice, eight vehicles are currently impounded at EOCO's headquarters. The list includes a diversity of models, ranging from luxury cars like a Porsche Cayenne to more common sedans and SUVs like Toyota Camry and Hyundai Elantra. 

The details include registration numbers, chassis numbers, and the date of seizure, which goes as far back as January 2014.

While the public notice doesn't specify the reasons for the seizures, EOCO is known for investigating economic and organized crime activities, including money laundering, fraud, and embezzlement. 

EOCO is offering a limited window of chance for owners to reclaim their vehicles. The notice states that claimants must come forward with proof of ownership within 21 days of the notice's issuance, which was July 18, 2024. This means owners have until August 8, 2024, to present their case.

Failure to claim the vehicles within the stipulated timeframe will result in their disposal by EOCO. The method of disposal is not specified in the notice, but it could involve auctioning the vehicles or scrapping them altogether.

Those who believe they may be the rightful owner of one of the listed vehicles are urged to contact EOCO's headquarters in Accra as soon as possible. They should be prepared to present documentation proving ownership of the vehicle in question.
