NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has hit hard at former President John Dramani Mahama saying he is the worst President of Ghana.
The 4th Republic which started in 1993 after the end to military rule has had 5 Presidents namely the late former President Jerry Rawlings, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, late Ex-President Evans Atta Mills, former President John Mahama and current President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Addressing thousands of supporters in Manso Adubia in the Ashanti Region on Friday, November 8, Dr. Bawumia said credible economic data indicates former President Mahama has been the worst performing President under the 4th Republic.
"Former President Mahama is my main opponent for the 2024 election. He has been President before and the question is when he was President, what did he do for Manso Adubia? What development did he bring? Did he even construct a kilometer of tarred road for you? He did nothing for you."
"When you also look at the data for all the Presidents of the 4th Republic, former President Mahama has been the worst performing President of the economy in the 4th Republic. He is the worst performing President."
"When you look at the data, it is clear. GDP growth, he is the worse. Agric growth, he is the worse. Industry, he is the worse. Job creation, he is the worse. Industry growth, he is the worse”, Dr. Bawumia said.
Dr. Bawumia added that unlike Mahama and the NDC, the Akufo-Addo government has performed far better stating "we have done far better than him in roads, in jobs, hospitals, schools, railways, sanitation facilities, fish landing sites, libraries, courts and so on. You look across, whatever matters, we have done better”.
