Running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for the 2024 polls, Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang will not be the focus of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) campaign in the 2024 polls, Sammi Awuku has revealed.
He disclosed that the biggest opponent of the NPP is former President John Dramani Mahama and therefore, the party is tilted towards him and not his Vice Presidential candidate.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana, the former NPP National Organiser noted that Prof Opoku-Agyemang is an added personality to the NDC candidate but was quick to add that she is not a subject to the party’s campaigns.
Sammi Awuku was responding to a question from the host if the former education minister's campaign is a bother to the NPP given the fact she has kick-started visits to some constituencies.
He disclosed “Prof has started what she has been asked to do and that is to campaign. She is campaigning and won’t be the focus of the NPP in this election. Our biggest opponent is President Mahama and so Prof is an added personality to President Mahama.”
According to him, the Former Education Minister has done so well for herself from the position of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast and in politics.
“For herself, she has done so well as a woman and as Vice Chancellor for UCC, but where we are now I don’t think that ticket can deliver the shape and spirit the Ghanaian people are looking for”, he revealed.
