Some Identifiable trade groups at Kejetia market in the Ashanti Region are appealing to the bigwigs of the New Patriotic Party ( NPP) to pick a female from the region to partner His Excellency Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia.
Sampson Kwame Nyamekye filed that as the NPP party executives consider their options, the call for a woman running mate resonates strongly among the traders and many others who believe in the power of inclusivity and equal representation in political leadership.
The traders believe that having a woman as a running mate would not only promote gender equality but also bring a fresh perspective to the political landscape.
At a Press briefing at Kejetia New Market, they said as the party has able to conquer the tribalism and religious extremism within the party, it’s time to promote women equality as well.
“We need to pick a woman as a running mate like our competitors and this election will only focus on projects undertaken by these two different administrations”one trader added.
“We have seen the incredible impact that women leaders can have in various sectors. It is time for our political landscape to reflect that reality” another trader chipped in .
They argue that women possess distinct qualities and perspectives that can contribute greatly to the development and progress of the nation.
The traders are confident that a female running mate would bring a new dynamic to the campaign and resonate with a wider range of voters, particularly women.
The appeal from the Kumasi traders highlights the growing desire for gender equality and female representation in politics.
