Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to build a strong tax regime that will revolutionize Ghana's economy and improve the living conditions of Ghanaians.
According to him, his government will usher in a new tax regime encouraging equality among all Ghanaians to pay their taxes.
In view of this, he says he will grant local businesses and individuals a "tax amnesty" when elected into power.
"To start the new tax system on a clean slate, my government will provide a tax amnesty, that is a complete exemption from payment of taxes for a specified period and waiving the interest and penalties up to a certain year to individuals and businesses for failures to file taxes in previous years so that everybody will start afresh", he said.
He added; "Tax digitalization will be implemented across all aspects of tax administration. Everyone will be required a very simple tax return electronically through their mobile phone or computer. There will be no manual or paper filing of taxes under my administration."
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia made this pledge while delivering a speech at the UPSA-Ghana, outlining his "bold solution for the future" of Ghana.Ameyaw Adu Gyamfi/
