Bawumia Is Doing A Lot of Things Right Prof Smart Sarpong

Prof. Smart Sarpong has expressed delight in Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's visit to Bawku in the Upper East Region, calling for unity in the community.

The Vice President visited the town on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 and meeting with the Chiefs and people entreated them to resolve their conflict. 

"As a son of the North, I am very pained by the conflict that we have in Bawku between Kusasis and Mamprusis over Chieftaincy", Dr. Bawumia said, adding "this conflict has led to needless loss of lives and disrupted economic activity and development in Bawku".

He further admonished them saying "fundamentally, we are really one people. We have intermarried over the years and our languages are very similar. I believe with every bone in my body that it is possible to have peace and harmony between Kusasis and Mamprusis in Bawku and I will work towards that. We have to work towards it. It is possible".

Prof. Smart Sarpong, tackling the Bawku conflict, applauded the Vice President and his team for visiting the area seeking peace among the residents.

"He (Bawumia) is doing a lot of things right," he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show.

The Senior Research Fellow at the Kumasi Technical University also urged the people of Bawku to note that their conflict can only end when they allow for it to stop stressing "we must commence to learn to solve our problems".
