The head of Nigeria's electoral fee, Mahmood Yakuba, has mentioned that he is anxious about assaults "intensifying" because the nation prepares for February's upcoming presidential elections.

There are issues that subsequent 12 months's tightly contested race could possibly be extra turbulent than typical, Mr Yakuba including that the fee had already tracked 50 assaults associated to the polls within the first month of campaigning alone.

The feedback have been made throughout an emergency assembly by the fee after two of its workplaces have been attacked on Thursday.

Last month, the US embassy evacuated all non-essential employees from Abuja, citing an elevated threat of a terror assault within the capital.
