Dr. Benjamin Otchere Ankrah has added his voice to calls on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to choose his Running Mate.
The Vice President has requested more time from the New Patriotic Party's National Council to decide on who partners him into the 2024 elections.
According to a statement by the NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Koduah, the Council has waived the party's constitutional requirement that mandated Dr. Bawumia to announce his Running Mate on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
“In line with our constitution, particularly about Article 13 (32) ‘the vice presidential candidate shall be a known and active member at least five years and shall be nominated by the presidential candidate at least 12 months before general elections when the party is not in government or the president is not the candidate.
“However, upon request from the presidential candidate that because his election was done on November 4, 2023, he needs a bit of time to persist with his consultation before he brings the proposed name for running mate to the National Council,” Mr. Kodua said.
In respect of who becomes NPP Running Mate, Dr. Otchere Ankrah, during Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, has appealed to Dr. Bawumia not to overlook the Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
"When he is considering, he should consider Henry Kwabena Kokofu," he implored.Ameyaw Adu Gyamfi/
