Akufo Addo Jabs NDC Over Tribal Religious Sentiments

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has taken a swipe at former President John Dramani Mahama, and the members of the Opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC over their recent tribal and religious comments against Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, now the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party.

According to President Akufo-Addo, his predecessor John Mahama, much-touted transformation is deceptive, adding that the NDC had nothing good to offer the nation, especially in the bid to strengthen multiparty democracy, diversity, peace, and unity of purpose, therefore urged Ghanaians to be wary of them over their tribal and religious sentiments.

President Akufo-Addo said this when addressing the chiefs and people of Bantama, in Kumasi, at the inauguration of an e-library project last week.

He noted that Ghanaians should be circumspect about their choice of leaders for the nation, adding “My advice to the electorate is that they reject such people as we get close to the 2024 general election.”

He said “What matters most is that we give the nod to leaders whose competency, track record and integrity cannot be doubted. We cannot entrust the destiny of the nation into the hands of incompetent leaders to the detriment of our sustainable growthrsquo;rsquo;.

President Akufo-Addo also questioned the authenticity of former President John Dramani Mahamarsquo;s claimed transformation.

According to him, the claimed transformation could not be true because Mahama failed during his previous presidency.

“You [Mahama] failed when you were offered the chance and now you are claiming to be a changed person. What shows you are indeed a changed person? It is pure deception and we wonrsquo;t agree,” he teased.

President Akufo-Addo also described next yearrsquo;s presidential and parliamentary elections as crucial as they would ascertain the direction of the nation in her development agenda.

He said the presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia is a man of substance and also honest ndash; a man who could be trusted to successfully spearhead the affairs of the nation when voted for in the next yearrsquo;s election.

He noted that the NPP had demonstrated commitment to Ghanarsquo;s development and growth over the years, therefore, the electorate should retain the Party in next yearrsquo;s polls to ensure progress.
