Undertaking By Aspirants Not to Leave Party Is Not Enforceable Atik Tells NPP Leadership

Atik Mohammed says the undertaking signed by the four aspirants of the ruling New Patriotic Party not to leave the party regardless of the election results on Saturday, November 4, won't work.

According to him, the undertaking is not enforceable, stressing if any of the candidates feels to resign from the party, it wouldn't take a paper to stop him.

The four aspirants vying for the flagbearer position of the New Patriotic Party have committed themselves to an undertaking which binds them to remain in the party no matter how the election ends.

This decision was reached during a crucial meeting held between the National Council of Elders and the aspirants, aimed at fostering party cohesion and ensuring a smooth transition after the flagbearer election.

" . . these are pledges that I think are not enforceable. You can only morally appeal to the candidates. They really are not enforceable. They have signed a paper but at the end of the day, you can't enforce . . . Do you remember Alan signed a similar thing? But it didn't stop him from leaving the NPP,"Atik shared his thoughts onPeace FM's"Kokrokoo" morning show.

Headvised the NPP to do the needful and there will be no fear thinking any aspirant would contemplate leaving the party.

"So that they wouldn't have to resort to these things, what's significant is to ensure fairness in the election. And look,If you are fair in any process, then there won't even be the need or anticipation for any person to leave the party,"he urged.
