Recognizing Excellence World Vision Ghana Wins 2 Prestigious CSR Awards In Ghana

World Vision Ghana has won two prestigious Ghana Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Excellence Awards (GHANACEA) for its dedication to positively impacting the lives of the most vulnerable children at the 10th edition of the Ghana CRS Excellence Awards 2023.

The Centre for CSR, West Africa annual awards event is a joint collaboration between the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI, Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Corporates organizations, JICA and some key Government Ministries including Ministry for Energy) to recognize reputable organizations who make significant contributions towards the attainment of the SDGs.

According to the organizers, close to 100 companies submitted entries for the award and World Vision’s entries emerged as one of the exceptional organizations.

Accordingly, World Vision Ghana was awarded "Best CSR NGO in Ghana and SDG Partnership on the Unlock Literacy Programme".

Both the Board Chair and Vice received the awards on behalf of WVG.

The Board Chair also gave cultivating speech which revolved around WVG offerings to donors on “3T”, that is trust, technical capacity and track record in line with their Local Resource Mobilization drive.

This resonated extremely well with the audience. GHANACEA Awards recognize programmes' impact on lives, livelihoods, education, water, sanitation, and hygiene and contributions to national development.

World Vision Ghana implements distinct community development programmes such as Livelihood Improvement and Family Empowerment (LIFE), Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, and the Unlocking of Literacy, which increase households' food and nutrition security, income, and children's access to quality education, healthcare, safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities and services.

These programmes help decrease poverty, improve quality of life, and encourage sustainable development, especially the well-being of children.

They also provide training and resources to communities to help them become more self-sufficient, empowered, and resilient. Additionally, these programmes create economic opportunities, promote gender equality, and decrease inequality and injustices.

“We thrive on the trust we have built working with various stakeholders. Your trust helps the organisation do more for vulnerable children, their families, and communities. We aim to reach 3.3 million children with quality water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), livelihood, education, healthcare services, and economic transformation by 2025”, Baafour Otu-Boateng, Board Chair of World Vision Ghana, said while addressing participating organizations on the award night.

These awards, he said, were an acknowledgement of World Vision Ghana's exceptional commitment to corporate social responsibility, transformative and impactful programming, and community development.

He said meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires collaboration and strong partnership.

Therefore, he appealed to donors, development partners, private sector actors, and the government to partner with World Vision Ghana for greater impact.

Recognitions and Awards

Previously, World Vision Ghana was recognised by the Ghanaian government for its immense contributions to the fight against COVID-19 at the 2023 National Awards Ceremony.

In 2021, World Vision Ghana won the UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development Award through its “Unlock Literacy Project," which promotes a holistic approach to the development of literacy focusing on crucial thinking, a core competency for sustainability, and the Millennium Excellence Award for Urban and Rural Development organised by the Millennium Excellence Foundation (MEF).

In addition, World Vision Ghana also won the “Best HR Management in the NGO Sector Award” for the second year running at the 2021 and 2023 Awards.

It also won the “Most exceptional Non-Profit Organisation Response to COVID-19” Award and was a finalist in the category of “Best Organisation in HR Information Systems Award,” having previously won this in 2019.World Vision Ghana
