Cecilia Dapaah's $1m+ €300k Stolen Cash: Ghanaians Are Not Angry Enough - Atik Mohammed | Politics

Atik Mohammed has condemned the former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah for hoarding a million dollars and other foreign and local currencies in her home resulting in her resignation and subsequent arrest by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
Atik Mohammed, speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, stated the act by the former Minister is "wrong on many levels. This is reprehensible on all accounts".
He wondered why a public servant would keep huge monies in her home.
"She is not Dangote's partner for us to see that these are her big businesses. Even if she owns businesses that can generate this much money, I'm sure those businesses should have accounts. Also, she doesn't work for the federal reserve, so she doesn't produce dollars or euros which means before you can have such money, it must be one of two things. Either you have done a transaction and have been paid or someone has gifted it to you; either way, there are issues," Atik argued.
He stressed that his interest in Cecilia Dapaah's case is further aroused by the fact that when she was the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, she committed millions of money into projects undertaken under the sector which didn't benefit Ghanaians nor the country.
He disclosed that huge figures were quoted by Mrs. Dapaah to have been spent in keeping the nation clean but "Ghana is one of the dirty countries, Accra mostly".
"This is a sector that is troubled because we are sinking money but we don't see the outcomes. The outcomes don't match the investments," he expressed disappointment in Cecilia Dapaah.
To Atik, Ghanaians deserve to ask questions about the Minister's source of wealth.
"We are not even angry enough as Ghanaians. We need to find out where the money came from."
