Former Arsenal academy player Daniel Cain was left a tetraplegic after having his drink "spiked" on a night out.
The 23-year-old was struck by a “life-changing travesty” during a night out with friends as a cardiac arrest starved his brain of oxygen. On the evening of June 9, 2020, Cain's friends noticed that he looked a "funny colour" and wasn't waking up so attempted to perform CPR while they waited for an ambulance.
Daniel was a fit and healthy footballer, as well as a qualified electrician, but needed the medics to work on him for 24 minutes before they got his heart beating again. During that time his brain and spinal cord were starved of oxygen, causing serious injuries.
