The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Jean Adukwei Mensa, has reminded officials of the commission that the EC’s collective goal is not to make anybody a President or Member of Parliament but to conduct a free and fair election.
Consequently, she has charged the officials to abide by the values of the motto of the commission (transparency, fairness and integrity), and do so with integrity.
In what she described as her last press briefing before the 2024 election day on December 7, the EC chairperson said “Count the votes accurately and fill out the forms professionally. We urge you to do it with integrity and truth and let God guide you."
“We believe in you and we trust in you to conduct free, fair and transparent elections that will reflect the will of the people,” she added.
She further urged them to ensure that votes that are valid were not declared as rejected adding, “Our collective goal is not to make anybody a President or Member of Parliament but to conduct a free and fair election”.
Also at the press briefing was the Association of African Election Authorities and other observer groups.graphiconline
