Id Raise Money To Fund National Teams If I Were Running Them Herbert Mensah

Former Asante Kotoko board chairman Herbert Mensah has declared that he would raise funds to run Ghana’s national football teams if he were in charge.
The Black Queens recently had their scheduled friendlies against Senegal and Tunisia canceled because the sports ministry could not provide $40,000.
The government funds the activities of all national teams, with the Ghana Football Association only managing them.
Speaking to Joy News, Mensah emphasized the importance of financial independence in football management, stating that he would not rely on government support but would instead focus on generating revenue through private investments and sponsorships.
“In a couple of elections back, I stated that whoever should be running the GFA, the easiest thing to raise money for, this side of a beauty pageant, is football.
“So you shouldn't go to the government and be really requiring the government [to invest in football].
“If I were running the national teams, I'd be doing that [raising money to run them].”
Mensah’s comments reflect his extensive experience in sports management, notably during his tenure as board chairman of Asante Kotoko.
At Kotoko, he implemented tactics to secure sponsorships and enhance financial stability, setting a precedent for self-sufficient sports administration.
