Former Majority Leader and current Member of Parliament for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has stated that should the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) secure at least 30% of the votes cast in the Ashanti Region in the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections, they will win.
According to him, the NDC, whose strength lies in the Volta Region, aims to secure 30% and above votes in the heart of the Ashanti Region.
He believes that should this materialize, the NPP will lose the elections.
In an interview on Angel TV on December 3, 2024, the NPP MP for the Suame constituency in the Ashanti Region stated, "Where your property is, that is where your heart is. NPP's heart is in the Ashanti Region because whenever we vote, this is the place where we get a lot of votes.
"So, we aim to sell our messages to get the votes that we deserve. Aside from the Volta Region, even though the NDC doesn't win the Ashanti Region, they get a lot of votes from here.
"So, the NDC is trying to secure more votes in the Ashanti Region, and most often, they claim that they want 30 per cent of votes from the Ashanti Region. But, should the NDC garner 30 percent of votes from the Ashanti Region, it is a done deal for them.
"If the NDC can get 30%, they have won the election, and the NPP should forget about the election. That is why Mahama is trying to win more votes."
