Sports In Ghana Need Reset Says Ex Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah

Former Youth and Sports Minister, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has called for a reset in sports in Ghana.

His comments come following Black Stars' failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament which is scheduled to be hosted in Morocco next year.

Ghana will not compete at the tournament for the first time in 20 years having finished at the bottom in Group F with three points without a win after six games.

Speaking to Channel One TV, Afriyie Ankrah reacted to the state of sports in the country and insisted that sports in the country need a total reset, including the Black Stars.

“It was very very sad particularly whenacirc;euro;brvbar; Kudus was going to take the penalty and the way the crowd was jeering at him, I was so shocked," he said.

"I’ve never seen anything like that and I think that it’s about time, the whole country take a closer look at the entire Black Stars, soccer, and sports and do a rethink; it’s time for a reset,” he added.

Following Ghana's failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament, the Management Committee has been dissolved with the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) expected to decide on Otto Addo's future today.
