Lawyer Charles Owusu Juanah Campaigns For Dr Mahamudu Bawumia In Ashanti Region A Visionary Push For Ghanas Future Kankam Twumasi Daniel Writes

On Saturday, November 9, 2024, Lawyer Charles Owusu Juanah, a passionate advocate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Patron of Friends of Bawumia 08, energized voters in the Ashanti Region. His campaign aims to enlighten voters about the records of the NPP and NDC governments, comparing their impacts to help voters make an informed decision on December 7, 2024.His message was clear: analyze the development path each party has paved, from the days of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) through the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) to the current NDC, and evaluate which party has truly propelled Ghana forwardhellip;

In a Saturday interview on EZRA TV’s political show Ghana Te Sen?, hosted by Sir Mike, Lawyer Juanah presented a historical critique, tracing the roots of the NDC from the AFRC to the PNDC, and eventually the NDC. He highlighted how some leaders under former president Jerry Rawlings sold state enterprises to personal and familial connections, leading to poor management and a legacy of high unemployment in the country.

“These people sold state enterprises to themselves, friends, and families. These enterprises were mismanaged, and that was the beginning of unemployment in this country,” Juanah noted, urging voters to consider the long-term effects of these decisions.

He went further, contrasting the NDC’s economic policies with the NPP’s focus on human resource development. According to Lawyer Juanah, true national progress hinges on empowering citizens through education and social interventions that relieve economic burdens, thereby facilitating ded listeners of the country’s situation when Jerry Rawlings left power; a weakened economy, lack of social interventions, and high dropout rates due to the financial burden of education. Under the NDC, healthcare was a cash-and-carry system, making it unaffordable for many Ghanaianshellip;

In contrast, when Former President John Agyekum Kufuor took office after the 2000 elections, he led Ghana through the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) initiative, managing to introduce a range of social interventions to aid struggling citizens. Among these, the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) replaced the cash-and-carry healthcare system, the School Feeding Program reduced dropout rates, and the Capitation Grant relieved the financial strain on parents, making education accessible.

These programs have been instrumental in transforming lives, reducing poverty, and stimulating development. As Juanah asserted, “Ghana’s growth lies in building an educated, healthy, and skilled workforce.” Lawyer Juanah contrasted this approach with the economic record of the NDC under Presidents John Mills and John Mahama, which he described as marked by missed opportunities and economic mismanagement, particularly in the wake of Ghana’s oil discovery.

Advocating for Dr. Bawumia’s Leadership: A Vision for Continued Progress

Lawyer Juanah made a compelling case for why voters should rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP to persist Ghana’s progress. He cited several ongoing projects under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration, emphasizing that Dr. Bawumia is best positioned to complete these initiatives and further Ghana’s development cts, which include infrastructure development, health facilities, educational reforms, and industrialization drives like “One District, One Factory,” have the potential to transform Ghana’s socio-economic landscape. To support his call, Lawyer Juanah also outlined the ambitious social intervention programs in Dr. Bawumia’s manifesto for the 2024 elections:

1. Expansion of Free Senior High School Education: Building on the NPP’s transformative Free SHS policy, Dr. Bawumia aims to extend this to cover vocational and technical education, ensuring Ghana’s youth have diverse, market-ready skills.

2. Free University Education for Cocoa Farmers’ Children: In recognition of cocoa farmers’ crucial role in the economy, this policy will enable their children to pursue higher education without financial barriers, creating opportunities for upward mobility and strengthening rural communities.

3. Healthcare Reforms: Dr. Bawumia plans to further improve the NHIS by introducing a thorough health insurance scheme that covers major and minor treatments, providing a more robust safety net for all Ghanaians.

4. Empowering Women through Entrepreneurship Programs: Recognizing the role of women in economic growth, Bawumia’s manifesto includes tailored programs to support women in starting and scaling businesses, with microloans and training initiatives.

5. Youth Employment and Innovation Programs: This includes creating job opportunities through innovation-driven initiatives and innovation hubs, which aim to position Ghana as a leader in the tech space across Africa.6. Affordable Housing Initiatives: Addressing Ghana’s housing deficit, this policy proposes low-cost housing developments across the country, making home ownership accessible to a broader segment of the population.

On the Ground in Bosome Freho Constituency: A Rallying Call

Following the interview, Lawyer Juanah joined Dr. Bawumia in Bosome Freho Constituency, where they rallied support, particularly among cocoa farmers. Dr. Bawumia pledged to make university education free for children of cocoa farmers, a message warmly received by the constituents. This pledge signals Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to rural development and his deep understanding of the distinct contributions of agricultural communitieshellip;

Later, on People’s Forum on Sempa TV, hosted by Hon. Lord Inusah Lansah, Lawyer Juanah delivered another thorough analysis of the NPP’s achievements compared to the NDC’s record under the Fourth Republic. He once again emphasized the importance of Ghana’s human resource development, calling for continuity in governance under Dr. Bawumia’s leadershiphellip;

In his closing remarks, Lawyer Juanah passionately urged Ghanaians to vote massively for Dr. Bawumia, a leader with a clear plan to introduce more social interventions, strengthen economic policies, and guide Ghana toward prosperityhellip;Michael Akrofi/spondent
