2025 AFCON Qualifies Black Stars Performance Against Angola Not Good Enough Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has admitted that his team’s performance against Angola in their penultimate 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier was not good enough.
Ghana played out a 1-1 draw against the Palancas Negras at the 11th November Stadium in Luanda, which confirmed their failure to qualify.
The Black Stars needed a win to take the fight to the final day of the qualifiers, but the draw spelled the end of their campaign.
Speaking after the game, a pensive Otto Addo conceded that his team did not deserve to win.
“They didn’t have anything to lose today, you could see. They could play freely, while we were a little bit more under pressure.
“They pressed us very well, held us down in our half, and it was challenging for us today. But we were missing our intensity, and I think it was not good enough from our side.”
The Black Stars needed a win against Angola, and also required a victory in their final game against Niger on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium, following a shock 4-0 win for Nigeria over Sudan.
With no chance of progress, the match against Niger now holds no significance for Ghana.
This marks the first time in 21 years that Ghana will miss the Africa Cup of Nations.
