Joana Gyan Cudjoe, parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central and wife of Ghanaian musician Keche Andrew, recently shared the distinct way she tested her husband’s love.
In an interview with MzGee, Joana revealed that, early in their relationship, she disguised herself as a poor woman to see if Keche’s affection was genuine.
Joana admitted that when they first met, she knew little about Keche’s personal life and had heard rumors that made her cautious. “I wanted to be sure he was serious and loved me for who I am,” she explained. To test his sincerity, Joana would often take taxis or trotros to visit him, sometimes calling him to pick her up and even asking him to pay her fare.
Through it all, Keche proved his genuine love and care, and this foundation of trust led to their marriage.
Keche Andrew shared his perspective as well, recounting the moment he learned Joana’s true identity. “I was in shock for an hour or two,” he said, recalling his surprise when he visited her office and discovered the real Joana. One day, I was invited to her office, and when I got there, I told the receptionist I was looking for Joana Gyan. After sitting in the waiting area, I was taken aback when I finally saw her. I was in shock for an hour or two.”
Reflecting on their marriage, Andrew discussed the importance of communication and trust in their relationship, despite facing multiple obstacles and external pressures.
“There was a time when I was receiving calls from girls and other people threatening me, even spreading rumours about me to Joana. Sometimes, I would take her phone and chat with them directly. Even some of my fellow musicians and media personalities were involved,” he recalled.
Joana and Keche Andrew married on November 30, 2019, and have been together for five years. Their journey reminds us of the importance of authenticity and trust in building lasting love.
