The Electoral Commission (EC) is set to initiate the transport of ballot papers for December 7, general elections today Thursday, November 14.
In a letter addressed to the General Secretaries of all political parties, EC Deputy Chairman for Operations Samuel Tettey conveyed that preparations have entered their final stages, with ballot materials being dispatched to each region under stringent security measures.
"We bring you warm greetings from the Electoral Commission... [and] inform you that the transportation of ballot papers to the various regions will start tomorrow," Mr. Tettey noted in the letter, dated November 13.
This phase follows the EC’s month-long preparation efforts to finalise voter registration, allocate polling stations, and train election officers among others.
According to the letter, the ballot papers are scheduled to be kept in secured police facilities within each region until election day, when they will be handed over to officials in the presence of party representatives to guarantee fairness and transparency.
The EC has reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process, highlighting that robust security protocols are in place to prevent any tampering or unauthorized access to ballot papers.
