Extend GETFUND Support to Private Universities Presbyterian University Council Chair Tells Govt

The Council Chairperson of Presbyterian University Ghana, Prof. Emmanuel Nii Ashie Kotey, has made a passionate appeal to the government to extend the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) to include private universities.

He believes that such support would enhance the learning environment at private institutions, allowing them to play a stronger role in national education.

Speaking at the 18th Congregation Graduation Ceremony held at the Ramseyer Training Center in Kwahu-Abetifi, Prof. Kotey highlighted the transformative impact that GETFUND support could have on private universities.

"With access to GETFUND resources, private universities like Presbyterian University Ghana would be able to expand essential infrastructure, particularly in areas such as laboratories, libraries, and research centers", he . Kotey emphasized that this expansion would boost research output, foster innovation, and improve the overall quality of education.

The Council Chairperson also extended his appeal to prominent individuals and members of the Presbyterian community, urging them to contribute to the university's development.

He stressed the importance of collective support in building a robust and impactful tertiary education institution that would serve as a beacon of excellence in Ghana’s education sector.

The Presbyterian University Ghana community, through its leadership, has once again demonstrated its commitment to national development, both in education andfor support and peaceful civic engagement underscore the institution's dedication to fostering a well-rounded, impactful education and a peaceful society.Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of Presbyterian University Ghana, Prof. John Ofosu-Anim, encouraged the graduating students to embody the values of discipline, integrity, and excellence associated with Presbyterian education.

Addressing the congregation, he reminded the graduates that these qualities are essential as they enter the workforce and contribute to society.

Reflecting on the upcoming December 7th elections, Prof. Ofosu-Anim also called on all Ghanaians as well as political parties, to accept the results declared by the Electoral Commission.
