"The Speaker betrayed me...", the leader of the Majority Caucus, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, in an interview on Friday's edition of "Kokrokoo" show on Peace FM, told the host, Kwami Sefa Kayi.
According to him, the Speaker's behaviour hurts him (Afenyo-Markin) so much because he, prior to the former's declaration of some seats as vacant, had met him to avoid the current impasse in the House.
He revealed that he had initially engaged the Speaker concerning what the NDC Minority had planned to do and discussed certain relevant things with the Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin who, in return, gave him his word not to hasten his decision on the issue.
Afenyo-Markin noted that he believed in the Speaker's words only for him to have "ambushed" them by declaring the Agona West, Amenfi Central, Fomena and Suhum seats vacant.
To him, "the Speaker betrayed me and I am pained. It hurts me".
He stressed that his intuitive response to the Speaker's move saved the situation for the NPP Caucus who would have humiliated themselves.
"If I had not taken preemptive action, the Speaker would have embarrassed the entire NPP administration but I thank God that the intel that I picked and I acted on it on time has saved this government," he lamented.Ameyaw Adu Gyamfi
