NPP flagbearer, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has responded to former President John Mahama’s disparaging remarks about him saying insults won't save the former President from defeat in the impending elections.
Mahama, replying to Bawumia’s 50 questions after he (Mahama) posed 5 questions to the Vice President, employed the words “stupid” and “useless” to describe Bawumia.
"This election is about the economy, stupid", Mahama said while campaigning in the North.
He also said; "It's not about all those other useless things about who built how many compost plants. Answer the five simple questions. And you can't hide behind the debate. You don't need the debate to answer five simple question.”
Reacting to Mahama’s reply, Dr. Bawumia says Mahama has resorted to insults because he will lose the election.
"So, many people have seen what is going to happen so they are worried and scaredhellip; They know they are going to lose. They are scared. Because of that, they have started the insults. The insults have already started”, Dr. Bawumia said.
He added; "The Akans have a saying that long talk does not buy a horse. Isn't it? Long talk doesn't buy a horse. I want to add that insults cannot buy a horse. You can keep insulting all the time, it won't alter anything. You will still lose the election."Dr. Bawumia said the New Patriotic Party’s good works across the country are evident and believed Ghanaians will reward him and the party with their votes to win the December 7 polls.
"The reason why the NPP will win is because of the work we have done. Today, I have inspected the ongoing University project here in Ahafo. I have also inspected ongoing hospital projects here and we are also on the process of making Mim a district on its own."
"We promised the people of Ghana in 2016 that we will implement Free Senior High School if they vote for us. When we said that, the former President said we were deceiving Ghanaians. He said it was a 419 policy and I told him it is possible. Since 2017, we have brought Free SHS in Ghana and 5.7 children have benefitted."
