Ursula Owusu Ekuful Calls for Stronger Early Warning Systems in Climate Resilience Efforts

The Minister of Communication and Digitalization, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has reiterated the importance of collaboration with the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) and other stakeholders and calls for Stronger Early Warning Systems in Climate Resilience Efforts.

She expressed worry about the African continent's lower rate of Early Warning System implementation as compared to other regions by pointing to the recent drought in Ghana and how timely action on GMet's forecasts could have prevented its obstacles.

Speaking at the launch of the early for all initiative (EWAII) and stakeholders’ consultative workshop in Accra, she urged stakeholders to prioritize the integration of advanced meteorological data into agricultural planning and disaster management tactics.

She emphasized that proactive measures are essential to safeguard food security and enhance livelihoods, particularly in communities that are most affected by climate alter impacts.

Hon. Owusu-Ekuful's statements reflect a growing recognition of the importance of reliable weather information in addressing the obstacles posed by climate alter in Ghana and across the African continent.

The Early Warning for All Initiative (EWAII) aims to bridge these gaps by fostering partnerships across various sectors to support data-driven policies and community-based adaptation measures.
