Weve Been Led by Dangerous People for 8 Years Ex Prez Mahama Asserts

Former President and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) has chided the government of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) for being inconsistent with their promises. 

In a build up to the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections, former President John Mahama has cited a number of unfulfilled promises by the ruling NPP government led by His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. 

Posting on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, former President Mahama wrote, "I laughed when Akufo-Addo challenged me to declare my stance on some matters. Ghanaians know me; they know what I believe in and stand for. Unfortunately, we’ve been led by a pair of leaders who have always said one thing and done another for eight years."

According to Mahama, the NPP government promised to fight dreadfully against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey but has failed in that regard. 

"Akufo-Addo and Bawumia have failed the galamsey fight, encouraging their appointees and others to destroy our water bodies and forests. They lied about building dams. I promised and delivered the Pina dam even in opposition. They lied about building the economy; today, we are all suffering because they’ve destroyed every sector of the economy," Mr. Mahama said. 

He maintained that, Ghana's current state needs a visionary leader who will deliver on his mandates to the people, implementing transformative policies that will impact lives of children as well as the Ghanaian youth and women.
