Akua Donkor Passes Away

Akua Donkor, the founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), has passed away.
This was confirmed by the running mate, Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Roman Father, in an interview on Onua TV.
According to him, she died on Monday, October 28 after a short illness.
She died at the Ridge Hospital in Accra at the age of 72 years old.
She had 7 children but 3 passed away. She was a widow.

Born in February 1952, Akua Donkor distinguished herself by running for the presidency multiple times and was a prominent and spirited voice in Ghanaian politics.
She was known for her dedication to advocating for farmers and women’s rights.
She first gained attention in presidential politics in 2012 when she applied to run as an independent candidate. This move marked the beginning of her journey in a challenging arena. Throughout her campaign, she encountered countless obstacles, notably facing repeated disqualifications from the Electoral Commission in both 2012 and 2016, which tested her resolve.
However, she remained undeterred by these setbacks. In 2020, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her political aspirations, she made a significant comeback, re-entering the race with renewed enthusiasm and determination to make her voice heard.
She is now on the ballot paper for the 2024 general election.
