Bolt Boosts Platform Safety With Women Driver Forum In Accra

Bolt, a leading ride-hailing platform, hosted a Women Drivers Safety Forum in Ghana to address safety concerns faced by female drivers and to educate them on the safety features available on the app.

This is part of Bolt’s safety campaign initiatives that aims to raise higher standards of safety for drivers on the app.

The event brought together female drivers, safety experts, and representatives from Bolt to discuss safety obstacles and best practices for ensuring the well-being of women drivers on the platform.

The forum featured presentations and discussions on a range of safety topics, including safety features on the Bolt app, tactics for handling challenging situations, self-defence awareness, reporting and support mechanisms. Drivers were guided through the app's safety features, such as the emergency button, driver verification, trip sharing, audio recording amongst others and encouraged to use these tools effectively.

Henry Whyte, Senior Operations Manager at Bolt Ghana said "We recognize the distinct obstacles faced by women drivers, and we are committed to working hand-in-hand with them to address these issues. This forum is not just about raising awareness, but also about taking concrete steps to enhance the safety and well-being of our female drivers."

“We are constantly striving to improve the safety of our platform for all users. This forum is an chance for us to listen to the concerns of our female drivers, learn from their experiences, and persist to enhance our safety features and support systems”, Whyte added.
One of the female drivers at the event, Noella Deribaa said “ "The Bolt app is user-friendly, and that's why I prefer it to others. Regarding my ride experience, I have never had any bad Bolt safety incidents, and I have received an award from Bolt for best female driver twice, adding up to some of the benefits I receive as a driver".

Lola Masha, Bolt's Regional Manager North and West Africa, noted, "Bolt is a progressive organization that cares very much about the safety of our riders and our partners as well. We believe that it is significant we create a safe place for both riders and drivers to have a successful ride. And we also want to ensure that we constantly get input, feedback, and suggestions from our driver partners.".
"Particularly, our women partners are very crucial for our success, and we want to do everything we can to ensure that they feel safe and supported and comfortable taking their rides every time they are on the road".

Bolt reiterated its commitment to driver safety and announced plans to persist organizing similar events in the future to further strengthen safety measures for female drivers on the platform.
