Otto Addo Is Scared To Build Black Stars Around Local Players Nyaho Tamakloe

Former chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has expressed concerns over Otto Addo’s reluctance to build the Black Stars primarily with local talent.

This comment comes on the heels of Ghana's unexpected 2-0 loss to Sudan in the second leg of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe shared that during a meeting at the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence in Prampram, he encouraged Addo to focus on developing the senior national team around homegrown players.

However, the 45-year-old coach replied that he feared being ridiculed if the approach did not succeed.

"I met Otto Addo at the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence at Prampram and I encouraged him to build the Black Stars around local players because the players playing in Europe are not the best and they are always careful when they are playing but the coach told me that people will laugh at him if he tries the local players and he fails," he told Asempa FM.

In the wake of the defeat, there have been questions regarding the commitment of the players.

Currently, the Black Stars sit in third place in Group F with two points from four matches and will regroup to face Niger and Angola in November for their final group games.
