Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has sent a strong message to naysayers predicting chaos in the upcoming elections, assuring the public of the Commission’s commitment to fairness and transparency.
Jean Mensa’s words of confidence come ahead of the crucial 2024 elections, with the EC poised to provide a level playing field for all political parties.
During a courtesy call from former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, leading a delegation from the West African Elders Forum (WAEF), Jean Mensa reiterated the EC’s readiness to conduct peaceful elections.
“Over the last few months, we have shown that our processes are transparent and robust to undertake peaceful elections, and we are ready,” she emphasized.
Mr Jonathan commended the EC for its passion and commitment to conducting successful elections, highlighting the crucial role of the election management body and security agencies in ensuring peaceful polls.
He praised Ghana’s track record of conducting successive peaceful elections and urged the country to uphold its democratic principles.
