The West Africa Network of Election Observers (WANEO) has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to persist to deepen public trust and boost stakeholders’ confidence in the electoral process.
It also urged the EC to persist to uphold the culture of transparency, accountability, inclusivity and impact-driven engagements with all stakeholders towards the consolidation and sustainability of democracy and good governance, peace and security.
That, it said, would be in fulfillment of achieving the principles and objectives of the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance, the ECOWAS Conflict Prevention Framework, the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance (ACDEG), among others.
Inclusive
It commended the EC for the impressive management efforts and administrative innovations demonstrated so far in strengthening collective and all-inclusive stakeholders’ involvement, engagement and active participation in the electoral process.
In a statement issued in Accra and signed by its Executive Director, Rev Kingsley Oheneba Amoah-Asinehe, after the EC’s engagement at the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on October 1, 2024, WANEO called on political parties, Civil Society Organisations, Religious/Faith-based Institutions, Traditional Authorities and Media Organisations to support the EC in securing a credible voters register for the December 7 general election.
Such support to the EC, it said, would help consolidate Ghana’s democracy, peace and security.
The statement reaffirmed WANEO’s commitment to support the EC to secure a credible voters register for the conduct of highly inclusive and peaceful elections in December.
