Democracy Hub Demo At No Point Have We Denied Suspects Medical Attention Police

The Ghana Police Service has announced that two suspects arrested during the Democracy Hub demonstration on Sunday, September 21, have been sent to the Police Hospital for medical care, following their complaints of ill health.
In a press release dated September 25, 2024, the Ghana Police Service stated that one of the Suspects, Fanny Otoo, who had stated that he was indisposed due to ill health when others were being prepared for court, was immediately sent to the Police Hospital in Accra, where he was admitted for thorough medical care.
Another suspect, Oliver Barker-Vormawor has also been taken to the Police Hospital to undergo further medical examination after he had allegedly reported sick on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
According to the police report, he has also been admitted to the police Hospital in Accra.
Ghana Police Service made some arrests of demonstrators who were embarking on a demonstration on Sunday, September 21, 2024. The group who identify themselves as Democracy Hub, allegedly engaged in vandalizing some state properties.
The arrested suspects were, however, processed to an Accra High Court on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, where they have been slapped with multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit a crime, unlawful assembly, unlawful damage, offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace, assaulting a public officer and defacement of public property.
Out of the 39 arrested, 11 were remanded in prison custody while 28 remained in Police custody.
The Ghana Police Service noted that at no point in time did the service deny any of the suspects the right to receive medical care.
