Disregard Claims That Organized Labour Demanded Funds To Call Off Strike

The Adhoc Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining has dismissed allegations made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, Mr. Kwame Baffoe, claiming that the leadership of Organised Labour demanded money to call off its planned strike. The committee described these accusations as "baseless and unfounded."
In a press statement released on Thursday, September 19, 2024, and signed by the Committee's Chairman and Minister for National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, the committee urged the public to disregard such claims, emphasizing that no financial requests were made during its engagement with the Organised Labour leaders.
"The Committee hereby calls on the public to disregard the claims as same are baseless and unfounded. No such demand has been made and no such payment has been made either," the statement read.
According to the committee, the discussions with Organised Labour were held in good faith, without any inducements. "The engagement between the Committee and Organised Labour was held in good faith and without inducement," Hon. Kan-Dapaah assured.
The Adhoc Ministerial Committee, tasked with fighting illegal and irresponsible mining, reiterated its commitment to working closely with all relevant stakeholders.
