Following its commitment to ensuring children remain in school and are motivated to pursue academic excellence, especially with an interest in Information, Communications, and Technological studies, the 2112 Charity foundation has once again observed its annual ceremony of giving to society and making merry with the budding youth of Korle Gonno.
This year's observation commenced in the early hours of 10 am on the 21st of December 2022 with the donation of some 400 pieces of reading materials to the Child Health Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital aimed at keeping children admitted for treatment at the facility motivated and mentally busy while they look through pages of these books.
These books were received by the Acting Chief Officer of the Department of Child Health Emma O. Hammond and a Senior Nursing Officer, Jennifer Addae.
“This will go a long way to help the children who unfortunately cannot be in school. As they read more they also gain knowledge” said Mrs Hammond as a thank-you message to the 2112 Charity team.
To climax the day, a merry-making feast was held at Okpotsu park in Korle Gonno near the Tuesday market where over 300 young people were in attendance.
Addressing the gathering, the founder of 2112 Charity Foundation, Joseph Lawrence Nii Ayikwei Hammond, rendered thanks to God for granting him another year of opportunities in life and encouraged all present to give back to society and more so, aim to help in creating more practical opportunities for young people wherever we find ourselves.
He further reiterated his resolve to establish an ICT training center for the community and called on all well-meaning inhabitants and corporate organizations in and around Korle Gonno to support the decision to establish the center to the benefit of the youth of the community and beyond.
He further expressed appreciation to all who have supported this year's observation in cash and in-kind and called for more people to reach out and come on board for even enhanced activities come 2023.
