NDC MP For Awutu Senya west Snubs Vice President And Chiefs Of Awutu Senya

The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, Gizella Akushika Tetteh-Agbotui, has snubbed the Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the Chiefs and people of Awutu Senya during the Awubia Festival.

Gizella Tetteh, according to eyewitnesses, delivered her speech before the arrival of the Vice President and his entourage. The Chief presented awards to deserving individuals including the Vice President as well as Gizella Tetteh, the MP.

No sooner had it been announced that Vice President Bawumia was about to deliver his speech than Gizella Tetteh, with her team, walked through the middle of the park, amidst loud music, got onto her vehicle and drove off.

The Member of Parliament’s arrogance and level of disrespect towards the Vice President and the chiefs and people of Awutu Senya left many of the people shocked. “The MP doesn’t respect us. She doesn’t respect the Vice President as well. How could she walk away when the Vice President is about to deliver his speech?” an elder amongst the traditional authorities asked.

“Normally, when an MP or a person with a similar position wants to leave such a function, he or she must first notify Nananom to seek ‘permission’ before he or she departs. This was not to be. She left us without a word to us” the chief linguist stated, shock in his voice.

The Awubia Festival is celebrated to mark an event that took place in the past. It promotes healthy agricultural competition amongst the people and unites them. It also signifies the end of the farming season and the harvest period of agriculture produce. It is also claimed to be used to remember the dead.

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, was the Special Guest of Honour for this year’s Awubia Festival where he was grossly disrespected by the MP for the area, Gizella Tetteh.
