Godfred Yeboah Dame, Ghana’s Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, has called on the global communities to join in the fight against the surge in financial crimes.
According to the Attorney-General, the fight against cross-border economic and financial crimes are not the preserve of just one an individual state but a collective effort in combating the canker that seems to be invading countries across the globe.
Speaking at the 41st Cambirdge International Symposium on Economic Crime held at tge Jesus College in the United Kingdom, Godfred Dame stated that the survival of the global community is dependent on how effectively it can foster collaboration between its justice partners to combat global crime.
Mr. Dame said, “bearing in mind the motives and modus operandi of the perpetrators of financial crime, far-reaching institutional reform in the form of the building of a strong legal framework has been deliberately undertaken by the Republic of Ghana to trace the assets of criminals and ensure that wrongdoers do not profit from the crimes they commit."
“I refer to the Economic and Organised Crimes Office Act of 2011, which was passed to establish the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) as an agency to prevent and detect organised crime as well as to facilitate the confiscation of the proceeds of crime.”Kobina Darlington/
