Call Wontumi et al to Order They Cant Force NDC Supporters to Wear NPP Shirts NDC Chair Fumes

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Augustus Nana Kwasi, has issued a stern warning to the Ashanti regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi for allegedly forcing NDC supporters who are cladded in NDC apparels to remove them and wear that of NPP branded T-shirts.

He expressed his greatest displeasure in the manner in which Chairman Wontumi alongside the Tafo Parliamentary Candidate, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, who deliberately forced NDC supporters to wear NPP shirts in addition to monies given to them.

According to him, the conduct of the Chairman has the tendency of sparking mayhem in the region considering the high volatility engulfing the December 7 General Elections.

Speaking on Hello FM, Nana Kwasi said, “we need peace in the upcoming elections, however, we will not close our eyes on the things that have the potency of endangering the peace of the country, when in effect, the perpetrators are still going on with the acts."

NDC’s Ashanti regional Chairman’s comments come on the back of the recent videos circulating on social media where Chairman Wontumi and Vincent Ekow Assafuah were seen pressing upon supporters of the NDC to take of their NDC shirts and wear NPP branded shirts.

This action by the members of the ruling party has received a lot of backlash from the NDC.

“We are all entitled to campaign but you don’t force someone who is wearing an NDC branded shirt to remove it and wear yours instead. If we all want peace, then the media should be able to speak against what is circulating on social media. If these persists, the NDC will respond in similar manner," he said.
