Thousands of Enthusiastic Youth Defy Rains To Welcome Bawumia At Abuakwa South

Abuakwa South, the home of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, showed massive love to the leader of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, when he visited as part of his campaign tour of the Eastern Region.

From Abetifi in the morning and Mpraeso in the afternoon where he had his usual energetic interactions with traditional rulers, market women and people on the street, Dr. Bawumia descended down the mountains to a tumultuous reception in Akyem Asafo in the Abuakwa South Constituency where thousands of young and old gathered to welcome him.

Before his arrival at Akyem Asafo, the NPP Flagbearer and his entourage first called on the Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II who gave Bawumia a befitting royal reception alongside the sub-Chiefs from his traditional area.

While Dr. Bawumia paid homage to the Okyehene, thousands, mostly young people, gathered in neighbouring Akyem Asafo waiting for the arrival of the man they hope will succeed their illustrious son, President Akufo-Addo.

To reflect their intentions, a huge banner in the centre of the town read "Changing over from Abuakwa to Walewale" with the town virtually painted red, white and blue, the colours of the NPP.

Remarkably, the youth, many of whom joining from neighbouring town and villages on foot and on motorcycles, defied the rains and waited for Dr. Bawumia for over 5 hours.

The Vice President eventually arrived around 7 pm in the organization of the current MP for Abuakwa South, Atta Akyea, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang and a host of NPP stalwarts.

Amidst thunderous cheers, Dr. Bawumia delivered an energetic speech, touching on the achievements of the Akufo-Addo government, and his policies which he plans to implement if elected President to serve the nation from January 2025.

Addressing the charged crowd with majority being the youth, Dr. Bawumia focused more on job creation and his flagship programme to train one million youth in ICT which would offer them jobs in digital areas in both Ghana and abroad.

Dr. Bawumia also told the youth the dangers of voting for Mahama who, he said, would be a "second hand President" with no clear vision for the youth and got a response from the youth not to vote for Mahama.
