The savvy Lawyer Charles Owusu Juanah, a prominent legal mind and staunch advocate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), delivered a stirring address at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED). The event, organized by the NPP's TESCON branch, was part of a nationwide tour aimed at "Energizing and Retooling TESCON to Break The 8," an initiative to galvanize support for the NPP in the upcoming December 7th elections which is being championed by Lawyer Charles Owusu Juanah and his team of highly dedicated NPP membershellip;
In his impassioned speech, Lawyer Juanah emphasized the crucial importance of the upcoming election, urging the youth of Ghana to rise in support of the NPP and its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He underscored the NPP's unparalleled commitment to human capacity development, a legacy championed by Former President John Kufuor and continued under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addohellip;
"The youth must stand solidly behind the NPP to secure a better future both for themselves and for the betterment of the country," Lawyer Juanah asserted. He argued that while infrastructure is vital, the true key to national development lies in investing in human resources. "Across the world, it is the private sector, led by individuals who have been heavily invested in, either by their families or their governments, that owns the majority of properties. For any country to develop and be truly independent, it must invest in its human resources, especially the youth; a task the NPP has not only undertaken but excelled in."hellip;
Lawyer Charles Juanah's message was clear: to persist this progress, the youth must take an active role in the NPP's campaign, ensuring a victory for Dr. Bawumia. He contrasted the NPP's vision with what he described as the "danger" posed by the opposition NDC, accusing them of relying on deceit and a "create, loot, and share" agenda that threatens national development. "The ability for the youth to develop hinges on the outcome of the 2024 elections. The youth must stand and resist the impending danger that the NDC represents."hellip;
Addressing the economic obstacles currently facing the country, Lawyer Charles Owusu Juanah acknowledged the hardships but urged the gathering to focus on the long-term vision. "There may be hardship now, but things will get better with time. The wealthiest families in the world are those who had the foresight to look into the future and sacrificed in the present. These families served and sacrificed everything they had to secure the future of their descendants." He called on Ghanaians to embrace this perspective and vote for continuity under the NPP's leadershiphellip;
In his submission, he highlighted a recurring pattern in Ghana's political landscape, where the NDC, after deceiving their way into power, has repeatedly squandered the solid foundations and promising future established by the NPP, leading the country into crisis. He emphasized that, in stark contrast, the NPP, inheriting these crises and collapsed economies, has consistently taken decisive action to steer the nation back on course through the implementation of sound governance policies. This cycle, he noted, has persisted for years, despite the NDC's longer tenure in office, which, unlike the NPP's shorter time in power, has left no significant legacy. In contrast, the NPP’s tenure has resulted in a remarkable legacy that resonates with every Ghanaianhellip;
He highlighted several key human resource empowerment policies implemented by the NPP government under both Former President John Agyekum Kufuor and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, which have significantly impacted Ghana's developmenthellip;
Under Former President Kufuor (2001-2009), the government introduced groundbreaking initiatives such as the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in 2003 to ensure accessible healthcare for all Ghanaians. Other notable programs included the Capitation Grant (2005) and the School Feeding Program (2005), both aimed at increasing school enrollment and retention. The Youth Employment Program (YEP) (2006) and the National Youth Employment Program (NYEP) (2006) were launched to tackle youth unemployment. The Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program (2008) provided direct financial support to the most vulnerable, while the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) (2006) empowered small businesses through access to credit. Additionally, Free Maternal Healthcare (2008) was introduced to decrease maternal mortality rates across the countryhellip;
Under President Akufo-Addo (2017-Present), the NPP government has continued this legacy with transformative policies such as the Free Senior High School (SHS) program (2017), which has made secondary education accessible to all. The Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) (2017) initiative has boosted agricultural productivity and food security, while the One District, One Factory (1D1F) (2017) policy has aimed at industrializing the nation and creating jobs. The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) (2018) and revamped Youth Employment Agency (YEA) programs (2017) have provided employment and skills training to thousands of young people. Other significant initiatives include the Zongo Development Fund (2017) to improve living conditions in Zongo communities, the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan (NEIP) (2017) to support start-ups, and the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) Support Programs (2020) to assist small and medium enterprises. Additionally, the Kakyeɛ Empowerment Program (2019) was launched to uplift marginalized groups like the "kayayei" head porters, empowering them through skills training and financial supporthellip;
In a nod to history, Lawyer Juanah highlighted the significance of having two Northern candidates as flagbearers of the country's leading political parties, crediting this development to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's introduction of Free SHS in the Northern Regions during his era. He praised the NPP for extending this policy nationwide under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, predicting that it would lead to a future where "great leaders emerge from every home across the country."hellip;
In concluding his address, Lawyer Charles Owusu Juanah emphasized the vital role TESCON plays as the election machinery of the NPP. He proposed a shift in the organization's slogan from "Commitment without inducement" to "Commitment with inducement," suggesting that this alter would better motivate TESCON members to operate effectively and efficientlyhellip;
The atmosphere in the auditorium was electric as students and attendees, inspired by Lawyer Juanah’s words, expressed their readiness to work tirelessly in their respective capacities to secure victory on December 7th for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP by embarking on a house to house campaign in their respective constituencies and electoral areas. His closing remark, "Breaking the 8, It has happened," echoed through the hall, encapsulating the spirit of determination that now drives the NPP's youth wing toward the polls.Kankam Twumasi
