President Nana Addo Dankshy;wa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday cut the sod for the reconstruction of the Accra-Tema Motorway and Extension project.
The project, valued at over $350 million, is being undertaken through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) by Maripoma Limited, a fully-owned Ghanaian firm.
The project is scheduled to be completed within 36 months after the start. The scope of work includes a 10-lane divided highway with full access control for express traffic and partial access control for local community traffic.
Renowned journalist and host of Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Kwami Sefa Kayi hoped this sod-cutting would 'actually' lead to the reconstruction of the Tema Motorway.
"I only pray this is the final sod-cuttinghellip;I pray this is the final. I’m not saying he (Akufo-Addo) did sod-cutting in the past but we recall that a contract had been awarded and even TMA came in to sack squatters in the area; now the squatters are even backhellip;so I pray we will not come back and talk about this again" he said on Tuesday's edition of his programme.
Prayer
Nana Akomea, in response to this, expressed hope that with the President's intervention, everything will proceed according to plan.
“Now that the President has stepped in, we pray everything will go as planned” he indicated.
However, Kwami Sefa Kayi told him that this is not a matter of prayer.
"We’ve prayed for so longhellip;it is the time for action" he insisted.
