It added that the players were traveling home after a football tournament at Kwahu Obo.
The trapped players were rescued and rushed to the above mentioned hospitals, from the timely intervention of the Nkawkaw Fire Command, with assistance from other road users.
The Nkawkaw fire service commander, D02 Samuel Mante said, "A bus carrying footballers from Ningo Prampram was involved in a tragic accident this dawn, as they were leaving after a match.
“Upon arriving at the scene, we found 63 people, including one fatality and several others with severe injuries. We promptly mobilized the injured to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.”
Some drivers who helped in the rescue mission urged the government to fix streetlights on the stretch to help in the reduction of accidents, especially at night.
“We’re facing a significant test here, particularly as drivers. The absence of streetlights in this area makes it extremely challenging for us to navigate during nighttime hours, posing a serious safety risk,” one of the driver stated, the report said.
