Former President and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), John Dramani Mahama has accused executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of stealing building materials that were meant for building the Garu hospital.
Speaking at a campaign event in Garu in the Bolgatanga Region, John Mahama mentioned that it was his administration that initiated the Garu hospital project. However, he stated that the project has been stalled because members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) allegedly took the building materials intended for the completion of the hospital.
"The Garu Hospital was one of the hospitals we chose to be built in the country. We got funding for various hospitals around the country and we started the Garu hospital but for the fact that NDC left office, I am positive that the hospital would have been completed by now” he stated
"The foundation was being done, work was ongoing; NDC left office, new government comes. You know what they did? They went and took the iron rods and the other building materials and went and sold them and divided the money. No this is shameful” he alleged.
The NDC Flagbearer further pledged to persist the construction of the hospital when he is voted into power as the next president.
“I want to assure you that when we come we will persist the hospital and complete it”.
