Mahama Will Make Fisheries Sector Lucrative Again Prof Jane Naana

Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the Running Mate of Mr John Dramani Mahama, the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has given the assurance that the next Mahama administration will reset the fisheries sector and make it lucrative once again.
She noted that artisanal fisherfolks are currently facing serious obstacles due to the bad policies introduced in thhe sector by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government.
Addressing supporters of NDC at Moree in the Abura, Asebu Kwamankese constituency on Thursday as part of her four-day campaign tour of the Central Region, Prof Opoku-Agyemang mentioned high cost of outboard motors and premix fuel as some of the obstacles crippling the work of artisanal fisherfolks.
"Meanwhile when the NDC was in power, fishermen could afford outboard motors and premix fuel because they were subsidised and these were all due to the good policies the Mahama government put in place", she said.
She wondered why a Ghana card should be a requirement for fishermen to have access to what they need for their work, quizzing “do fishes in the sea know anything about Ghana card?”.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang said the NDC has a track record of making the fisheries sector lucrative. She added that the next NDC government will decentralise and subsidise the supply of the premix fuel and outboard motors.
She therefore urged them to vote massively for Mr John Dramani Mahama in the December 7 general elections to enable him create opportunities for all.
